My Students

My classroom is full of 5th graders from many different backgrounds with various learning styles. We like to be up and moving around while we learn to keep our brains actively engaged, helping to secure new and/or prior knowledge being presented.

My students love hands-on, collaborative, project-based, and creative learning where they can see how the content applies to real life.

Every year we discuss and focus on having a growth mindset. I love how knowledgeable my students are about how the brain learns and that not every student learns the same way or at the same pace.

My Project

No one wants or enjoys sitting in a hard plastic chair for seven hours a day, especially children. Every year, more research comes out that supports providing various seating options for learning, whether that is standing, pedaling on a bicycle desk, balancing on a wobble board, etc. When students are given the choice to select how they want to learn, they can focus on learning, not their bodies.

I would love to be able to provide yoga balls for active students to move, comfortable chairs and lap boards for my students that enjoy to be on the floor working, and special stools at my group table to let students know it's an important part of their day.

We are active learners every day in my room and I would love to be able to have more seating to reflect that!
