Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What was your favorite part of your Chemistry class? My students love the lab activities! More than liking the labs, my students are mostly visual and kinesthetic learners and LEARN better during hands-on activities.

I teach in a large urban high school in California.

My students will almost all be the first in their families to graduate high school and attend college. It is my dream and goal for them. To support them, I use every trick in my bag to make my class interesting, relevant, and understandable. Lab activities help me do just that.

My Project

My students need laboratory materials (Hydorgen Peroxide, Sodium Iodide, soap) and Examining Thermochemistry kits to complete activities on thermochemistry and reaction rates. The materials I am requesting will allow my students to complete two lab activities. The thermodynamic kits will allow students to calculate temperatures, energies, and create hot and cold packs. The additional supplies of hydrogen peroxide, soap and sodium iodide will allow us to complete a very famous and very fun demonstration, elephant toothpaste!

Lab Activities are essential for any Chemistry program.

My school has very little money for supplies. Without your help, I will not be able to show this really important concepts to my students. They want and need the excitement that laboratory science brings to them. Thank you for your consideration!
