Elephant Toothpaste STEAM Style Part Two!

Help me give my students scientific equipment to use during our STEAM activities and promote science learning for young children.

My Project

Young children have great capacities to learn science concepts and get engaged in doing science. Children are naturally curious about the world and how it works, and science learning for young children starts with wondering and asking questions.

Every week we do Wonderful Wednesday Science!

Among the many different activities we do, we often do variations of elephant toothpaste science experiments. We attempt the PreK child type and the bigger versions. I make every attempt to ensure that each child in my class has an opportunity to participate in each activity. I am trying to get flasks and safety goggles for my students to use during our science STEAM activities.

Not only are these activities fun for both my students and me, but the inquiry processes that underpin the teaching of science are, in fact, a great fit with early childhood teaching and learning practices. Scientific exploration gives children and adults alike the opportunity to explore, inquire, to problem-solve, cooperate, and communicate with others and to be even more excited and curious about the world around us. Research shows that children naturally engage with scientific concepts and processes in their play and as they explore their world. As an early childhood educator, I recognize, celebrate, and build on these moments.
