Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is a 2nd/3rd grade special education day class. I have eleven enthusiastic students - eleven boys and two girls. My students are working hard to learn to read. They love engaging stories, especially that they can read to themselves.
We have overcome many behavior issues in our class
and we are working individually and in small groups on our reading skills.
We are working as a team to be better students. We celebrate each other's success and respect each other.
My Project
Students with learning disabilities can get discouraged. While we have books provided by our curriculum, sometimes a little entertainment can capture challenging students' attention.
These incredible books are easy to read and will help students feel successful and give them confidence.
The books are easy to follow, with color coded speech bubbles, and adorable, kid-friendly cartoon style line drawings. Everyone falls in love with the title characters, and wants to keep reading!
Giving each and every student a feeling of confidence promotes a positive attitude toward learning and toward school. My goal is for each student find a life-long love of learning.
