This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have been asking, "Can we make our own CD?" Please help me say "Yes!" I want to capture my elementary students' pride in their musical creations so they can enjoy music for a lifetime.
Our school was built in the early 1900's and serves an eclectic community.
Eighty percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We have a large, successful dual language program. Our school has a strong music program with weekly general music classes for all kindergarten through fifth grade students, chorus, and instrumental ensemble. We do not have a budget for music classroom supplies and equipment.
My Project
I am requesting a TASCAM digital recorder, Sony ACID music editing software, and Creative Inspire speakers. All items were recommended to me by a professional recording engineer with quality and value in mind. I will use TASCAM recorder to record my music class, Chorus, and Instrumental Ensemble performances. We will be able to mix and edit the tracks using the Sony ACID music editing software projected in my classroom. I will be able to play back the project in its various stages on the computer speakers.
The way I am teaching my music students needs to change as technology is changing.
This project will help me to teach students composition, performance, and evaluation skills on a digital platform. I will be able to expand my program to include sound recording and engineering experiences to prepare students for 21st century careers.
