Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 4th and 5th grade music, and I love it! I teach mostly students of color in a school of academic need. Based on school data, about 98% of students are considered low income. Our school has a dual language program to support the cultural and linguistic needs of our population. We do activities on rhythm, singing, instruments, dynamics, harmony, melody, meter, history, and so much more! We have a good supply of instruments, but we need help with some basics.
Your contributions will allow our music class to become more inclusive, efficient, organized, and successful!
Specifically, painters tape will be used to indicate spots for dancing and games. Expo markers will allow all students to respond non-verbally to questions, which helps me to see everyone's level of understanding. Starbursts are used as a special prize for the class that shows the best teamwork that week. Fidgets help students stay focused and respectful.
