it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"My pencil doesn't work!"
"My pencil is too dull."
Students in the Mandarin Dual Language Program are constantly learning to write Chinese characters. They need fine pointed pencils.
I have 30 kindergarten students in my Mandarin Dual Language class.
My school is a Title One school. These 5 year olds are developing fine motor skills and trying to master the art of writing Chinese while learning English, math, science, and social studies. They do so with great pride and their parents work as hard as them!
My Project
Due to the intense nature of the dual language program, students are constantly learning to write new Chinese characters, and composing daily journals in English. By the end of the day, students' pencils are dull and need to be sharpened. Having an electronic pencil sharpener will decrease the amount of time they spend on sharpening pencils, and be able to apply that time to learning. My students will learn to appreciate and to respect learning tools because they will see the value of treating them with care.
It's sad to see that the available resources given to the educators are diminishing every year.
However, thanks to donors like you, we still have a hope in accomplishing the goals and the dreams we set out for our students. Thank you for investing your resources in our students.
