My Students

My students need five Kindles to read electronically and improve reading skills.

My students are all below grade level readers in a specialized reading class.

They are fabulous kids that just need an extra push to love reading and acquire reading skills. My school is situated in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. We offer a specialized reading class to help children that are two or more grade levels behind in reading.

My Project

My students are all below grade level readers in a specialized reading class. Due to the nature of our society, I feel they will respond more positively to reading if I can loan them a Kindle on which to read popular books. The more they read, the more they will improve in their reading skills! My students are required to read twenty minutes a day in class. Most of my students are technologically savvy and would enjoy reading on Kindles. These children will be going to high school in two short years, so I want their reading skills to improve as much as possible during our time together in seventh grade. I will take any avenue possible to help these children improve their reading skills which will do nothing but benefit them for the rest of their lives.

We need five Kindles.

My students will be allowed to read on Kindles during class time and even "check out" a Kindle from me at the end of the day so they can continue their reading at home. The more I can encourage the love of reading, the better the reading skills of these children will become. These children need the skill of reading to be successful in life. Using Kindles will help my children feel more confident about their reading and they will want to read on the electronic device.
