Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from ethnically and socially diverse backgrounds. The diversity brings with it many unique perspectives, but also many difficulties. Many students do not have the necessary technology to engage in interactive and exciting lessons.

Students find themselves disengaged due to the limited resources available.

The students are excited to take the work home when possible and are excited when the opportunity to use available technology arises. My students have expressed their interest in exploring technology based lessons which, unfortunately, many do not have the required resources.

My Project

The goal of this project is to provide the opportunity to use technology to every student. Many of my students miss instruction due to frequent vacations, in and out of school suspensions, and being pulled from class for academic interventions. The frequent absences leads to students being disengaged with class and a decrease in homework completion. This project will allow students who do not have technology at home to engage in and enjoy their education in school. Research shows that students who are able to use technology are more engaged and active in their education. This project will help make students feel empowered through their educational experience.

I hope to target disengaged students by creating an exciting and welcoming classroom environment.

I hope for students to use this project to collaborate on podcasts, interactive media experiences, and 21st century skill stations. My project will keep students motivated to come to school to participate in an education they enjoy. Through keeping students motivated it will decrease absences and promote engagement.
