My Project

My third graders love science! We have a large number of students from Ukraine this year and as they are just learning to speak English, science class has quickly become their favorite. They are able to show their learning through hands-on investigations and fully participate in all aspects of the lesson.

Students have been learning all about force and motion.

As we are coming to the middle and end of our unit, students will be learning about magnetic forces and electromagnetic forces. The magnets, copper wire, batteries, and other materials will help them build their own electromagnetic magnets and investigate the strength of their force.

The best part of our unit comes at the end when students work together in small groups to invent a new toy that uses force! It's a great, and fun, way for students to work collaboratively and who their learning.
