Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having charging stations in our class will make a difference in the support available. Our school has two third-grade teachers, and both have minimal power outlets and space to charge laptops. If we are to receive this donation, The charging station will be utilized for two classes, one of which is a combined 3rd-4th grade special education class.
Last year, our students thoroughly enjoyed using their laptops to explore educational websites such as EpicBooks, DiscoveryKids, BrainPop, and many others.
These websites encourage exploration in all content areas, such as reading, math, science, and social studies. However, it was also a hassle to plug in the laptops, with cords tangled and kids trying to find their laptops. It wasted time trying to find and unplug laptops, and many times, by the time they found them, there was no time left to enjoy online educational activities. In the special needs class, the other teacher had to send three students at a time with their laptops so that they could charge in my room.
Our students are from a rural and low-funded school. Yet, they can get what they need to succeed with your support. In a time when technology is becoming an essential aspect of education, they need the power to strengthen their learning skills. Having charged laptops can be used for instruction and as a reward for our students who give 100 percent in all they do. Thank you for your consideration!
