My students need books to work in leveled groups to understand what it means to go through an election year.

My Students
Do you remember it being so confusing when your parents were voting for a new president?
My students face special challenges and many have educational plans.
Many of my students come from a very low income area. They are in a process we call inclusion, where ESE students are integrated with low, medium and high performing students. I would like for them to totally be able to understand the election process.
My Project
I would like to use the books I have requested to work with students in small leveled groups to help them understand what it going on in the election process this school year. This way they can all understand, at their own reading level, and be able to more fully understand the normal curriculum.
I believe that students need to understand how the election process works and why it is so vital they pay attention to what it going on and vote as informed citizens.
If given a good impression of the voting process so young, hopefully they will continue to be interested in the electoral process as adults.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
