My Project
Phonics plays a big part of learning to read. Phonics is matching the sounds of spoken English with individual letters or groups of letters. Research has shown that children who do well with phonics are better readers- they comprehend better, are more fluent readers, and also have better phonemic awareness. I would love to incorporate phonics games to assist my students with improving their phonics skills while building the social skills of sharing and teamwork. Building a foundation for literacy starts with supporting our students in the lower grades.
Engaging in hands-on activities and games will help my students to reinforce phonics concepts previously taught while providing socialization in a fun way.
Students will be receiving the necessary foundation for literacy success. I plan to include phonics games and activities in a center and also during small group to introduce and reinforce skills aligned with our curriculum. These games will also foster a love for learning and assist to build friendships with fellow classmates. Please consider donating to my project.
