This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine having 160 students and no materials or curriculum with which to teach! Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "I have a dream." My dream is to provide a successful and stimulating environment for my students to become fluent in the English Language.
I teach the ELD students at my school.
They range in age from Kindergarten through 5th grade, and from a Beginning level to an Advanced level, and everything in between. These students speak English as a second language, with the majority of them speaking Spanish as their primary language.
My Project
With the materials I am requesting, my students will be able to experience a wide variety of language experiences including listening to themselves via the "phones", listening to stories being read fluently, expressing their thoughts through creative writing via the whiteboard markers, water colors, and colored pencils. My students will be encouraged to become fluent in academic language so they can be successful in their classrooms and with their peers.
I am so appreciative of this opportunity to request the donations.
With your help, I will be able to provide a successful learning environment for my students, encouraging them to be fluent in all areas of their lives. I thank you in advance for all your generosity and willingness to help these deserving students.
