This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are so creative and fearless. They have talent deeply rooted in their bones. They love making art about themselves and tend to favor the special markers and paints. I never have enough and wish I could bring the art store to them so they can continue to develop their personal narratives.

I'll teach them how to turn an old book into an art journal using acrylic paint, watercolor, pencil, markers, ink and collage.

I work at a Title I school where 90% of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. If I can teach them techniques in small doses and give them supplies without running out before everyone has a turn then they will make magic happen.
