Einstein Loved Science Books

My students need science books for guided reading that support what we are learning in science. We need new, engaging texts that enhance our science curriculum.

My Students

What was science like for you as a child? My experiences were limited and mostly out of boring textbooks. My awful science instruction growing up has spurred a passion for me to teach engaging science. In addition to high-quality science lessons, my students need engaging science texts!

My at-risk students recite a class mission daily that states, "...Today we will do our best to reach our goals.

We are special kids, and we will succeed in life. We can do hard things!" In order to reach our academic goals to succeed in life, we need YOUR help! Our inner-city school in UT works with refugees, English language learners, and low or middle income students trying to succeed in life. Over 90% of our population has free lunch and breakfast. These students have very little at home and are at-risk based on poverty and language needs. We need engaging, new science books for guided reading that cement learning. Please help us buy science books!

My Project

I have specifically chosen science books in content areas that we are lacking in our classroom and that will be used throughout the year. All books correlate with our science curriculum. It is vital for students to read and write about science experiences they are having. Our science library is outdated and missing many subjects that are required for our students to master. Let's see connections made with vocabulary and science content due to reading in small groups with high-quality science books!

Some of my kids currently have or have had really torn lives where education has been neglected.

Thus, many of my students have large holes in their understanding when it comes to science. It would mean so much to us to receive your help. Simple tools (like books!) that will help them understand science concepts are essential to their success! These kids are our future scientists. Help them continue their love of science by reading in engaging science books.
