Eighth Grade Camping Trip to Lake Itasca

My students need help paying the costs for my students attend a camping trip to Lake Itasca State Park.

My students are a beautifully diverse and motivated group of individuals seeking to find their path in the world.

For many of my low-income students living in the heart of Minneapolis, camping and adventure has never been an opportunity. This project will help cover some of the cost of this camping trip to Lake Itasca State Park so my students are provided with unique chance to connect with the natural world and build long-lasting team-based relationships with each other.

My Project

My students will use the money that I am requesting to pay for food, transportation, and materials associated with this class trip up to Lake Itasca State Park. We are asking students to provide $50 each, however even this amount can put a strain on our families. For this reason, I would like to cover as much of the trip costs as possible with donations to this project.

Your donation to this project will improve my classroom because it will give my students a rare opportunity to connect with the natural world and each other.

As a camp counselor, I have seen the enormous positive effect that the outdoors can have on self confidence and a group's identity.
