My students need craft boxes to make their Egyptian sarcophagus mummies. Plaster tape will be used to make the mummies. The gold paint will embellish the project.
This year my classroom is going to focus on the art and history of Egypt. The students at my school are very excited to create the Egyptian Sarcophagus and a sculpted mummy inside. This project brings art and history together for a interactive project that everyone can enjoy.
My school focuses on a strong parent and teacher relationship, as each child learns and grows.
My students are 3rd through 8th graders, and many of them have knowledge in Egyptian History to bring to this project. My students choose my class as their elective, and each of them has a unique way of creating art.
My Project
This year my students will be studying the art of Egypt. The students will be learning about ancient tombs, Egyptian hieroglyphs, and the art of creating an ancient sarcophagus. This projects will be sculptural as well as 2 dimensional. The students will be painting, and designing their boxes with paint and ink. The inside of the boxes will have a sculpted Egyptian mummy. The students will be using the plaster tape to create this sculpture. This project brings history and art together for a fun interactive experience. On the back of each box will be facts about Egyptian history. This project will be displayed at the schools art show.
