My students need an egg incubator and a brooder kit.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. LaFave's classroom raised $675
This project is fully funded
I am a first grade teacher. My students come from many different economic and academic backgrounds. But one thing they all poses is that they are open and excited to learn new things.
Students at this age level are very inquisitive and open to learning everything they can about the world around them. They are especially interested in the other forms of life around them. They are like sponges when learning about the life cycle of plants and animals. They take what they learn and apply it to their life outside the classroom. This helps them make connections between their school life and their life in the outside world.
We are in need of a new incubator to hatch chicken and other bird eggs in our classroom. Once hatched, the babies will be kept in a brooder so we can continue to watch them grow and change and so we can learn how to properly care for them.
Hatching eggs in the classroom is very beneficial as it takes children through the life cycle of birds, from egg to bird. The children also use math skills in counting the days to hatching and watching the various stages in the development of the birds through charts and candling of the eggs. This project does not only benefit the students in my class but students school wide. Each class in our building tours our room before, during and after the hatching takes place. The excitement is indescribable. children in the building stop by before and after school to check on the process and many bring their parents in to see the process unfold. This project also builds a community of learning as parents are able to share with their children valuable information they have a bout this process through their own life experiences.
Your help will ensure that this project can continue. It will make a difference in a lot of children. You will make it possible for my children and the other students in the school to experience real life hands on learning about the life cycle and then to apply their knowledge to other areas of science and life outside the walls of the classroom.
