My students need Seat Sacks for each of their chairs. Our classrooms have gone from desks to tables, and they do not have anywhere for students to store their notebooks or class materials.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a K-5 school in a rural part of town. The majority of the population is Hispanic and Native American, so most of my students are English Language Learners. The entire student population is provided federally funded free breakfast and lunch. Students are also provided with uniforms, school supplies, and food bags for the weekend. They are extremely bright, but because they lack supplies or funding, my students do not always get the same opportunities as students in other districts. My students are eager to learn. Our school is an active part of the community, creating a family environment within our halls, as seen through our active parent volunteers.
My Project
My students are in need of individual Seat Sacks. The classroom has switched from desks to tables, and they need somewhere to store their classroom materials. The Seat Sacks will provide a quick way for students to switch subjects, as their materials will be right behind their seats. Transition time will decrease since students will not have to get up out of their seats for their materials, allowing them to stay focused on the lesson and not on gathering materials. The Seat Sacks will hold their interactive math notebooks, math review notebooks, writer's journals, and color coded folders. Students will learn how to organize their work using the Seat Sacks and classroom materials.
