This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from differing backgrounds, but all of them bring a unique personality to our community of learners. My students come from low-income/high poverty homes and with that comes different challenges. As their teacher it is my duty to provide the safest and warmest environment for them to have their best opportunity for learning. My students need me to be more than just their teacher. Sometimes I'm a nurse, counselor, friend, mom, or superhero, and with that I strive to help my students in any way possible.

My Project

I have included a list of general supplies my classroom still needs and some things that would be beneficial to have. My classroom uses a lot of interactive journal activities in all subject areas as it creates a more hands-on activity rather than a regular worksheet. Because of this, we end up using lots of glue sticks throughout the year. Students bring in some at the beginning of the year but I usually end up having to supplement our supply. The scissors I currently have in my classroom were passed to down me from another teacher and many are breaking. Therefore I need to get new ones for our classroom.

Recently I received funding for new classroom books!

Now I need more bins in order to store those books for my students to allow easy access in my classroom library. We also use a lot of anchor charts to give students access to the material we are working on for each subject area. These anchor charts stay up for the time the material is being taught. Our school gives us one tablet of paper, but I end up needing several more before the year is up.

Some of the items on the list are not vital needs, but would be additions to what I have so that I don't have to pay out of pocket for them later in the year.
