I have ninety amazing students coming to my classroom next year to begin their middle school careers. Being in a school such as ours, I've had the ability to get to know the vast majority since they've been in kindergarten due to being in the same building or from having and older sibling previously in my class.
An inviting and clean room will help set the tone as they begin their middle school years: the final chapter at our school.
My students are transitioning from elementary to middle school, I don't feel there is a need to remove all of the cute aspects that they are used to in the previous years. The magnetic sheets will allow me to make even more magnets for our board in the shapes and concepts that we are learning about. I would love to create continent magnets to add as a visual in our world geography class, but they will also double when I'm teaching about Pangea and sea-floor spreading.
The carpet tape will be used to keep both our library rug in place and to keep our classroom library nice and cozy. Our front rug will also need to be kept in place, as it is an ultimate favorite place for my students to complete their social studies work. Of course the Kleenex will play a vital role in keeping our class healthy and keep those germs away so that we can keep coming to school and learning everyday. My prior students have always told me that I have the "best smelling room in the building" which coming from middle schoolers is a top compliment! These air fresheners are my secret.
