My Students
My second-grade students are a fantastic group of learners who have been drastically impacted by the Covid pandemic in many ways. Distance learning made up a large percentage of their short academic careers, which has often led to lower reading and math levels.
Our school is also part of a low-income district, with limited financial resources.
More than ever before, I see a need for classroom tools and enrichment resources that will help spark their interest in all things educational.
My Project
The items provided through this project will help bring newfound excitement to our classroom. The nonfiction animal readers will spark an interest in ocean life, lions, insects, giraffes, honey bees, and much more! Students will be able to research a topic of interest, and then create their own informative storybook projects about the topic using the notebooks. They can even create their own 3-D models to correspond with their stories, using the playdough sets.
The flexible seating ottomans will help students with sensory processing issues/hyperactivity focus on schoolwork and promote a sense of calm.
The headphones, printer, and ink cartridges will help us fully utilize our online reading and math curriculums, as well as print research projects/articles. These items will also be helpful in distance learning. The project hooks will allow us to proudly display and share our new projects in the hallway.
