My Project

The items I am requesting may seem mundane at first glance. For students in special education, items such as food/fidgets can be a powerful work motivator, even at the high school level. Public schools are also significantly underfunded for some simple items and I often use my own money for pencils, notebooks, snacks, and other school supplies. Social and emotional learning is critical in the developing teenager, especially among students whose formidable years for social learning were spent in quarantine. The classroom environment should be welcoming for our students as a place where they feel safe and ready to learn. In many cases, some of the students' most basic needs must be met before they are available to learn.
