My Students
My students come from all over Maryland, serving the underrepresented and overlooked of Maryland's students. They are a diverse group of students with varying needs and abilities. I work closely with students with disabilities and help them achieve growth and move them into college.
My Project
The books showing people of color are lower level reading materials for my students with disabilities that impact their reading abilities. These students will be able to read on their reading level, stories about people that look like them. The journals will be used weekly to assess their reading and writing abilities while opening discussions on their identity and racial tensions they are currently facing. The multicultural colored pencils will allow students access to a diverse section of colors to choose from beyond black and brown allowing them to better express their individual identity.
