Help me give my students a 3D printer to explore science even deeper.

My Project
My 4th grade students are enthusiastic learners that love to explore and challenge the norms of thinking. They are continually asking “what if” and “how” questions that keep me on my toes! I would love for my students to be able to take their ideas through the design process and create a tangible object that can help them truly find the answer to their “what if”.
As a science teacher, I focus on providing as many opportunities as possible for my students to design and have real-world applications with their own ideas.
By having a 3D printer, they will be able to take engineering skills to the next level! Students can design and create specific parts for their projects, test their design, then revise and rebuild based on their results, just like a real scientist.
My students love science already but being able to create and design their very own materials will make learning and investigating even more interesting and engaging for them. The 3-D printer will allow for the use of their own imaginations to design scientific pieces of their choosing this school year. For example, students will be able to replicate small toy cars and balls for a roller coaster project where the students learn about forces and help further develop their knowledge with the 3-D printer.
Hands-on learning opportunities make learning so much more meaningful for students. Having a 3D printer will give them a learning experience that they will never forget! Future architects, designers, engineers, and artists are sitting in these elementary classrooms, we just need to provide the right inspiration.
