My Students
I teach a wide variety of students with various needs. They live in an urban environment right outside the largest city in our state. We have 2 extremes at my school. We have the highest flying students in this area in a magnet program and then we have a high population of students who require specially designed instruction and special attention paid to their needs.
Imagine the difficulties you might face being asked to read Plato in the original Greek; for some of my students, this difficulty is an every day occurrence.
Currently, I serve as the science teacher in classes for students with mild to moderate disabilities. Students in my classes typically read 8-10 years below grade level and I am charged with teaching them standard curriculum biological and physical science concepts. Newton is hard to understand as a college student- now ask someone who struggles to identify their letters to try!
My Project
These materials will help me to differentiate for my students and help them to access difficult curriculum with interactive notebook, labs, activities and word walls. There are many activities in this bundle that will provide extra practice opportunities for my students!
These materials will help me to bring art into a science classroom and give students the opportunity to learn and demonstrate learning in ways other than multiple choice quizzes/tests.
Students enrolled in my classes struggle to understand the required concepts. Finding things on a level that will be comprehensible to them without looking "baby-ish" is a struggle to find! These resources will help me to encourage learning in my classroom!
