Educate, Empower, Employ with the book Wonder

My students need 30 copies of the book Wonder to read and discuss how they as teachers and childcare providers would handle bullying and diversity in the Early Learning setting (classroom, after school programs and camps).

My Students

When you walk into room 109 you will experience a very diverse population. You will be greeted by AP students, CP students, students who can and can not read. You will be able to interact with students who are very mobile as well as students who are wheelchair bound. My students have many things in common therefore the students of room 109 are always involved in hands-on activities which make them feel special no matter what circumstance they may be facing.

My Project

Students will be assigned to read the book Wonder as a part of our Diversity unit. I will use the book to encourage students to take a deeper look at the diversity that make up a classroom (gender, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, ethnicity etc...). It will also allow me as the teacher to highlight specific examples within the book to use as case studies and discussion topics.

Students will be encouraged to discuss case studies based on the events of the book among themselves and develop effective classroom management plans that can be used in the Early Childhood learning setting (classrooms, camps and after school programs).
