My students need an Amphibian Starter Habitat, Jaws of the Jungle Carnivorous Plant Kit, and a Butterfly Display Cage to demonstrate visually the types of ecosystem habitats that we are researching in our current science curriculum.

My Students
Students in my classroom like to explore and hands on activities spark their interest. They enjoy learning from others and often don't get the opportunity to have a chance to see nature up close and personal. Ecosystem containers gives them the chance to view nature at their personal pace.
My students are in a learning support classroom, but some of them also require additional emotional support.
In my past practice with my students I have found that nature activities calm them and encourage them to be responsible for something else which impacts their own personal behavior responses to their surroundings. All my students struggle with expressing themselves, but when presented with a guest speaker such as my dad discussing media/technology,(please see the related posted photo of my classroom)or enrichment activities, these students come alive and want to share and ask questions. I would like this to continue as they search among the ecosystem containers for the meanings behind animal interactions and the ways that humans relate to the life that surrounds them.
My Project
The live animal resources such as butterflies, newts, snails, and carnivorous plants that I am requesting will enrich the students I have by introducing them to the aspects of science that can't be realized through a textbook experience alone. They will get to interact on a personal level with the container ecosystems and watch firsthand how various life reacts with one another.
The students will develop the skills they have learned within their content areas of reading and math and apply those concepts to the daily interactions they have with the ecosystem examples. My hope is that through the development of the ecosystem containers and the responsibility for caring for live animals, positive student to student interactions will occur.
Your donations will allow the students to participate in a worthwhile experience with additional impact in fostering accountability and responsibility.
This experience will enrich students as they prepare for their educational state exams and impart a lasting impression of their role within the life cycles that surround them in nature.
