My students need an EcoSTEM energy kit and an EcoSTEM water kit for hands-on investigative Science activities of real world problems to work on while learning major concepts.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. P.'s classroom raised $1,684
This project is fully funded
My Students
We are a small farming community and the students feel more inspired by getting out and doing. They would much rather learn from doing than reading a textbook, listening to lectures, or doing paperwork. These kits would allow my students another avenue of learning about water and energy sources.
We are a low-income school district in Missouri, having 70-75% of our students on free or reduced price lunch.
I have students in grades 10-12 intermixed in my classes. This year, I have 70 Biology I students, 60 Biology II students, and 11 Anatomy and Physiology students. Of those students, about 15 go on to our dual credit college Biology class and do very well.
My Project
The EcoSTEM energy kit and EcoSTEM water kit will allow the students to investigate, evaluate the processes, and experiment with water, water pollution, and the effectiveness of different alternative energy sources. The student set up the labs, and do the research. It is not the teacher modeling the concepts for them; it is the students doing the investigating.
The students will get will take the project to another level, involving outside citizens in the project.
What a learning experience this would be, going way past the walls of the classroom. The impact it will have on the students' experimental design concepts as well as the water cycle and the alternative energy sources strands are amazing. Please help fund this learning experience for my students.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
