Technology makes learning fun! Help me teach my students important economic concepts with iPads.
My school is in a progressively growing rural community with a total enrollment, in kindergarten through 5th grade, of a little over 550 students.
The town population is approximately 66,881, with 17 elementary schools in the district. The diversity at our school comes from the different economic levels with approximately 45% of our students receiving free and reduced lunches. I teach a classroom of students with profound special needs and sever health conditions.
My students have profound special needs or of sever health concerns. They love to explore the world around them while in the process learning how to function in a world that is not allows easy for them to deal with. My students love to learn hands on with technology like iPads and computers.
My Project
My student will use the three iPads with cases as a form of technology to learn vocabulary and see the vocabulary come to life thorough real life experiences; from making a grocery list, how to how to balance money. Student will gain awareness of how economics is in everything we do and that every decision has a cost.
The donation of the iPads with allow my students the chance to experience economics in their community hands on through technology that they may not have the access to in the home or outside environment.
It is also very hard for my students to go out in the community as a field trip but they can take virtual field trips with the help of the iPads. So my students can gain the visual, vocabulary, and understanding of banks, markets, and other economic agencies in their community.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
