Economic Concepts from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages

My Project
My students are learning about the development of civilization and its growing complexity. Humans developed systems to get the resources they needed through hunting gathering, bartering, taxing, and banking. My sixth-graders learn about the agricultural revolution and money in early civilizations. My seventh graders extend this by seeing the economics of the feudal Manor system, tithes to the church, and taxes to the king.
Students will use fake money to experience the development of economic systems.
We will start out with the agricultural revolution, trading livestock. That's where we will use the plastic animals. Then coins to experience money, supply, and demand. Then paper money is invented, wow! We'll try capitalism, taxation, and banking too!
