This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every year at our school, students in 7th grade complete an ecology project at the end of the year. It has become a rite of passage that all students look forward to. Students work in teams to design a settlement on Mars, determine what they need to survive, and then create a 3D diorama that they pitch to "investors." Students are so proud of their work! They bring their families, younger siblings, and even friends from other grades to show off what they learned.
To create this incredible opportunity for this year's seventh graders, my classroom needs support getting essential supplies that will make the project possible.
Students need poster boards to build their diorama. Additionally, in the lead up to the project, students create macro scale food webs in our classroom using posters of animals and plants. I want to use vines and animal cut-outs to make this year's food webs realistic, eye-catching, and exciting for students to look at.
