EcoBunny: Teaching Climate, Care, and Conservation

My Project

I love that my students are curious, compassionate, and eager to explore the world around them. They ask thoughtful questions about animals, the environment, and how living things survive and thrive in our Appalachian region.

By bringing a rabbit into our classroom, we’ll create daily opportunities for students to learn about responsibility, empathy, and biology in a hands-on, meaningful way.

The rabbit will help them connect what they read in books to real life—observing behavior, changes with the seasons, and environmental needs like food, shelter, and temperature. Resources like a habitat, bedding, and food will not only keep our class pet safe and healthy, but will also support lessons in science, climate awareness, and sustainability. This project will turn our classroom into a living lab and make learning come alive for every student.
