Hello,
I teach sixth grade science at an inner-city, high poverty school. This is my first year teaching science and obtaining high quality, real world examples can be very expensive.
It is research based that students retain their learning when given opportunities to interact with high interest learning materials. I would like to provide some awesome hands on learning experiences for my students.
Providing hands on learning experiences for students enables them to create moments in learning that they will never forget. It creates excitement and enthusiasm for their learning that cannot be had by reading a book or watching a video. I would like to provide real examples of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, as well as fossils. These are very abstract concepts when real examples are not presented.
Please take this amazing opportunity to reach hundreds of young science students. Influence them to love science and love learning. I have had such a wonderful time this year listening to students tell me how much they love science and they don't remember it ever being so much fun!
