Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am teaching Advanced Placement, Honors, College Prep Biology, and Environmental Science. I am also advising the Eco Mindfulness and Garden Clubs. My students care about the environment, gardens, and campus beautification.
My clubs need an instant photo printer and paper, flower bookmark making kit, and decorations for their spring club meetings and activities.
For our next field trip to the Ventura Botanical Garden we will be on a scavenger hunt for different kinds of plants from various ecosystems. When we get back to the classroom I would love for students to print their photos of the flowers they find and we can play a game to identify them all. This will be a fun way to combine plant identification and peer to peer relationships.
The bookmark making kit and flowers are needed because the students want to create nature inspired bookmarks to make reading books fun. Students are creative and want to make their own mementos.
We need more broad tip markers for all of the diagrams that go in our science notebook. I will use the TPT giftcard to purchase diagrams on the cell cycle, mitosis, and meiosis. We need plastic bags to store science manipulatives and supplies.
The desk bookshelf will hold garden club's books. We have 10 garden coloring books the students use to draw, stencil and trace for their projects. Right now they just are stacked up like an unstable tower. The books need a better home so they can last longer.
