Protecting Our Environment One Pencil at a Time

Help me give my students packing tape and eco-friendly Smencils made from recycled newspaper to teach my students about sustainability.

My Project

In our 5th grade classroom, we’re learning that small actions can make a big difference not just for the planet, but for our whole school community. That’s why we’re excited to bring in Smencils, fun, scented pencils made from 100% recycled newspaper to help students connect everyday choices with caring for the environment.

Smencils are more than just pencils, they’re tools for learning about recycling, reducing waste, and sustainability.

Each time students use them, they’ll be reminded that simple choices can have a lasting impact.

But the real impact happens way beyond our desks. Our class is actively involved in serving our school by helping maintain our composting program and improving lunchtime recycling. These efforts teach students that environmental responsibility is a powerful form of community service.

To support these projects, we also need materials like clear packing tape, card stock and printer ink, which will help us post signs, label recycling bins, and hang student-created posters around the school. This helps our environmental message reach more of our school community, reminding everyone to do their part.

With your support, I can inspire my 5th graders to lead the way in environmental responsibility and school service making a positive impact one pencil, one lunch tray, one poster, and one thoughtful action at a time.
