Eco Club And Gardening To Save The Planet

My students need a hydroponic gardening kit, butterflies in the classroom kit, and digital cameras to learn more about gardening and ways to help the environment.

My Students

Rain is a wonderful thing, but rainy days make gardening class a challenge! We need some indoor activities for rainy days. Students will love growing plants inside our classroom and watching caterpillars turn into butterflies. Digital cameras will let us capture images to share on our school show.

My students love working together to help save the planet.

They participated in Disney's Planet Challenge last year and look forward to doing it again this year. Our gardening and Eco Club have helped host tree planting events on our campus the last 2 years. Students have organized recycling programs for batteries, electronics, and Sun Chip wrappers. We are a Title 1 school facing the usual funding challenges, but have a supportive community that helps our garden and our students thrive.

My Project

Imagine watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly right before your eyes and capturing the transformation on camera to make a video you can share, or setting up a hydroponic garden and watching plants grow without soil. These are the activities your donation will make possible. Students will love these activities and they are way better than spending a class period watching a video when rain keeps us out of our garden. These resources will also be shared with students in our Eco Club. The cameras will allow students in Eco Club to take photos to use to create posters and videos encouraging students at our school to help the planet in a variety of ways and to promote Eco Club events on campus.

Your donation will provide great rainy day activities for our gardening class and help our Eco Club help make our world a better place.
