Teacher Professional Development: I need an iPad mini and VGA adapter to view professional development webinars to increase my students' literacy. <profdevpilot>
My class is made up of a variety of students from all over our city. We work hard, play hard, and learn all day. My class is the class of 2025. Our district is pushing to improve our students' literacy and I am pushing my students to READ, READ, & READ!
I have taught in the public school setting for twenty-one years.
I have taught grades 2 – 5, science lab, and computer lab. I work as the lead teacher with the After School Care program. I recently added my library certification to my teaching license. I want to help students become lifelong readers. I work with each of my students to help them find a genre that will hold their interests and keep them reading.
My Project
I want to participate in professional development that will help spark and interest in my student and introduce them to new books and genres. With an iPad mini I can benefit from online webinars and workshops offered by Booklist Online. Two examples of webinars I would participate in are titled: Transition to: Integrating eBooks and Technology in Schools, and The Scoop on Series Nonfiction: New Titles for Spring 2015. These webinars will allow me to keep my students reading new books in new ways.
Donations to this project will provide an iPad mini for professional development that will allow me to keep my students actively reading.
The use of all the technology available in today's 21st century is how the class of 2025 will become lifelong readers. Your donation will help me introduce new books, eBooks, and genres to my students.
