Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thanks to government funded programs, students have breakfast, second chance breakfast, and lunch provided to them, free of charge. The meals provided however, are high in sugar, low in fiber, and are ultra processed.

This project aims to acquire snack foods (granola bars, jerky, edamame snacks, crackers, fruit strips) to counterbalance the unhealthy choices students are offered throughout the day.

While fresh choices would be best, these cupboard stable snacks will serve as a starting point. As I learn more about food as fuel, I feel compelled to offer students healthy options when possible. This project is the perfect place to start.
