My students need individual dry erase boards and markers for many different activities we do throughout the day. Individual boards will allow me to assess my students quickly.

My Students
Do you remember being too embarrassed to raise your hand in class, even when you knew the correct answer? Dry erase boards allow me to ask my class a question and receive their answers without the whole class staring at them. I would love to have my very own set to use with my classes!
My students are fifth graders in a rural elementary school in Oklahoma.
I have 14 boys and 11 girls in my class this year and we are having a fabulous year so far! My students are very compassionate and helpful. I couldn't ask for a better group of students!
My Project
I am requesting 25 dry erase boards and 36 dry erase markers. This will allow my students to interact with me during class discussions. Having a set of dry erase boards will help those students who are shy to provide answers without having all eyes on them. I love using this method because it makes assessing my students extremely quick and easy. If I need to know whether or not my students understand what a noun is, I can simply have them write an example on their board. What an easy way to gather information from students!
As students write answers on their boards and see that they had the correct answer, their self-confidence increases. Without a set of dry erase boards I may have students who know the correct answer, but are too embarrassed to share it with the class. This is a non-threatening way for every student in my class to join our discussions.
My project is important because I want to provide every opportunity possible for my students to achieve success.
Having a class set of dry erase boards and markers will help my students in all subject areas. Instead of having to take a paper and pencil test to show what they know, my students will be able to use their dry erase board to show me whether or not they have met the learning goal for the lesson.
