My Students
My students are a group of enthusiastic special education learners with varied learning styles. The students are champions, rising above and overcoming challenges each day.
Teaching is not only assigning ten pages of reading, and learning is not only responding to a series of questions based on the reading.
Some students learn best by creating a poem or writing and recording a rap song about the information they have learned, while others excel at drawing or building a visual representation in the form of a mural or miniature structure.
This is special education – creating a learning environment that appeals to many different types of learners and allows them to express their knowledge in an infinite number of ways.
My Project
Students should have all accessibility barriers removed from their learning environment. Having open access to a printer will allow my students to print homework assignments, essays, and Power Point presentations without the burden of having to search through the school for a printer that works and is available.
Teaching United States History and Global History with maps, differentiated primary and secondary resources that students with learning differences can have right before them (instead of only projected on the board), take home and use as a consistent reference is a game changer.
The laser printer will allow students to have instant access to materials that are not readily available within the classroom.
