My Project
After wrapping up my first year teaching, I realized that I didn’t have an easy space that I could make anchor charts (which are essential to learning!)! I like to make them as a class so we can add information together, so I would put chart paper on the whiteboard and create the anchor chart that way. However, this was difficult because the whiteboard is straight up and down, so it’s a little awkward to write on with marker, and also the marker stained the whiteboard underneath. Also, we just have so many different posters and important information on the whiteboard, it was difficult to constantly be moving things out of the way to create the chart, and then put everything back. Because it was such a hassle to make anchor charts, I didn’t make as many as I should have. Anchor charts are so important because they contain key information that students can refer to every day, teaching them to use environmental resources and text to work more independently! The rings can also store our calendar and schedule charts, which took up a lot of the limited space we had on the walls and whiteboard, freeing up more space for student work and space on the big whiteboard to write important information, and hang even more anchor charts!! The easel can also be moved, which is so handy and perfect for small group instruction or moving a chart closer to a student who needs it!
