FULLY FUNDED! Ms. R.'s classroom raised $235
This project is fully funded
I am a preschool teacher of 20 in a full-day program. We are housed in a public elementary school outside a major metropolitan area. Most children in my school live in poverty.
The first thing my children do in the morning is to open their "name bags" and complete whatever hands-on activity is in there. Depending on the child, the activity could be patterning, sorting, "writing" with play-doh -- any number of things.
This gets everyone's day off to a good start. Each child is engaged in a meaningful, independent learning activity immediately upon entering the classroom. I have time to talk to parents, tie shoes, check to make sure work is done correctly -- whatever is needed.
We have no individual storage in our preschool classroom, so I gather all the bags and put them in a basket on the shelf. The same thing happens with our daily journals.
I would like to have Store More Chair Pockets to put on the back of each child's chair. This would provide a special place for each child to keep his/her own materials. Children would have easy access to their journals and name bags and the responsibility to put them away carefully.
One of my most important goals as a preschool teacher is for the children to learn independence and individual responsibility. My name bags go a long way toward this goal. Store More Chair Pockets would go a little further.
