My Students

Being at a Magnet school, my classroom is very diverse. They come from various neighborhoods within the county, and very different home cultures.

They thrive when provided with engaging lessons and activities, especially ones that include hands-on activities, movement, and freedom of choice.

When they are excited about their learning, everything falls into place. Stress levels are reduced, social skills are being built, and students are learning!

In a world where children grow up with everything happening at full speed, their attention skills have lessened. In addition, there is less and less time to engage in free play. As a result, ADD/ADHD is becoming a widespread problem, especially for boys. It's my ultimate goal to create an environment where all students can excel.

My Project

My classroom needs an easel that can be used as a whiteboard and/or hold anchor charts so that all students can see them. Currently, I use a small easel that I have to prop up ontop of a table, and the charts do not fit ontop. This easel will make it easier to store and use materials as well.

The reading fluency and comprehension games are engaging and easily accessible to students any myself.

They are much more durable than printing them on paper, and have many options for students to choose from. When student choice is provided, engagement and motivation immediately increases, resulting in more learning!
