My Project
Do you remember what your first grade classroom was like? I remember the felt board my teacher used to make our lessons come alive. She would recreate characters from the stories we read. Currently, I have an easel, but it has become warped, which makes it very difficult to write on it.
In our class we are constantly creating anchor charts, using magnetic resources, and writing together, which requires a large dry erase board.
Through the funding of this project, I will be able to display posters and flashcards easily on the board. I also will be able to use the many magnetic resources that I have created over the years on my board, including math manipulatives.
The easel will provide easy access to the materials needed throughout our whole-group lessons, which can be stored in the bins that are included with the easel. An added bonus feature of this easel is the felt board included on the back side. This could be used during instruction to retell stories and use other interactive manipulatives. This easel will help save valuable instructional time by reducing the amount of time needed for transition time from one subject to another because all of our materials will be centrally located. More meaningful instruction and more free time would mean more learning for my students.
