This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help my class stay with the times and avoid the old school chalk boards. We need a dry erase easel that can move around our classroom. I can utilize both sides for different subjects. Mobility also allows me to teach from any place in the classroom.
I teach in a school where many of my students receive free and reduced price lunch.
My students are amazing young people who enjoy learning. They actively participate in activities and classroom discussions. They are a pleasure to work with and would be very grateful for any donations they receive.
My Project
Days of using the chalk board are long gone. The easel makes teaching so much easier. I can use different colored markers which helps my visual learners. It also engages my students because they love to write their answers or work on the board. I teach reading and writing, so it allows me to have a place to model, especially writing. Being able to use the easel from different points in the classroom allows all students to be actively involved and engaged in learning. The front of the room can be anywhere. It can be used in all subject areas. Simply put, my students can learn anything and this is just a tool to help make it easier and more accessible.
I have been teaching for 11 yrs and in that time, I have spent a good amount of my own money on supplies for my students and classroom.
I have done it simply because it has always seemed like the right thing to do. As we are all suffering from a recession and budget cuts, any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. I simply can not swing this one on my own. It is something that I will continually use throughout the remainder of my teaching career (and I plan on doing this for many more years!)
