My students are being challenged with more and more rigorous state testing each year. My students are struggling with reading in the areas of fluency, accuracy and speed. Easi-Speak will help them by giving them easy technology to record their reading.
My students live in a very low socio-economic area in Texas.
They are very eager to learn and want to be successful, but lack many of the support systems and resources to achieve that success. Many have no access to technology at home. Many students have no one at home that supports good reading habits.
My Project
Imagine a classroom where students are working in very meaningful learning stations around the room while the teacher is working with reading groups and able to individualize reading instruction for each learner! That is what this technology would help us achieve in our classroom. It would give my students an easy way to record themselves reading books and then be able to play back that recording. And it would give me another tool in my learning station. I am always looking for ways to keep the crowd engaged so that I can work with small groups and Easi-Speak would be a wonderful addition to my classroom. I also believe that in order to be successful on the new, more rigorous standardized reading tests, my students are going to have to be very fluent readers. This technology will help with building speed and fluency.
This technology is something that can generate excitement in my classroom.
This technology would be a great way to keep reluctant readers very much engaged. It would also help me reach the low readers. This could help students for years to,come!
