My Students
My kindergarten class is an amazing group of diverse learners. This San Francisco classroom is an inclusion class, meaning some of the students have special needs. My goal as their teacher is to differentiate instruction, often with additional resources, to meet their needs. My classroom supplies and resources are not what they should be, especially to support the unique needs in my classroom.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring additional resources and experiences to my unique group of students.
I want to increase their access to technology, STEM, diverse books, quality materials, and so much more. I am grateful for DonorsChoose.org for giving my classroom the opportunity to grow and learn beyond what I can give them.
My Project
This year my kindergarten class was moved into a portable bungalow, a space that must be shared with our after school program. This has come with the challenge of limited space for academic materials. I have no wall space for science or social studies posters/resources, and no place to direct students to exactly what I am teaching. I need a classroom easel so that I can have a place to teach science and social studies, where the entire class can see.
An easel would provide access to curriculum for all my students, and centralize my teaching to an easy to reach location.
Easels are an essential tool for all elementary school teachers for many reasons. Having an easel will allow all my students to see what I am teaching, at a kindergarten friendly level. It will also be a place that they can look to when they need help with the current subject. This easel has storage space where I can put vocabulary words, markers, books, and so much more. I can also move the easel to student tables or other parts of the room, since it is on wheels.
I feel like I am doing these kids a disservice by not having a central location for these resources. Your donation will help provide equal access to curriculum, something that I strive for in my class.
