My Students
I teach second grade in Brooklyn, New York. A majority of my students come from low income families and many of them cannot afford computers in their homes. My students also come from many different countries and their English language skills are limited. My school along with our after school program provide many technology based opportunities for students to strengthen their math and reading skills online and get the support that they are lacking at home. These programs understand that children learn differently and are self paced. My students have a strong desire to learn and eager to succeed.
My Project
Easels help teachers create visually appealing learning charts and anchor charts that are utlized and displayed in the classroom for student reference and help. Teachers model strategies, present exemplar work and display visuals to aid in the various learning styles that their students have. This easel will help promote student engagement in both whole group amd small group settings. The magnetic board will help teachers and students use magnetic letters to build phonemic awareness and decoding skills. The dry erase board will allow the board to be used and reused over and over again, which maximizes its use. Not to mention that the storage compartments below keep all learning materials organized in one place!
